The Story of Hypnotism Explained To You
Hypnosis was used a long time before the history records can even show. The natives of Asia, Africa and Australia used rhythmic chanting and strained fixation in order to enter the Trans state, Hypnosis was regularly used during the religious ceremonies in the past. A Scottish surgeon named, James Braid, named it hypnosis which actually means to sleep. It started 300 years back from the age of Dr Franz Anton Mesmer up to the present day
Hypnosis started 300 years back on 23rd may 1734 in Europe with the birth of Franz Anton who is known as the father of hypnosis. A young female relative of him named Franziska suffered from a convulsive disease. While treating her, he introduced his preformed belief that there was a magnetic field and a cosmic fluid in the air that we inhaled.
That fluid after inhaled got itself absorbed into and throughout the nervous system and then it reaches the blood. He believed that the blockage of magnetic fluid in the nervous system caused illness. He thought that the same problem is with his patient. Then he came up with a solution to clear the obstruction to cure the disease. He would pass the magnets over the blockage thus correcting ebb and the flow of magnetic fluid. Then he used hands instead of magnets and got the same desired result. This technique was known as mesmerism.
His technique was apposed by others but the people used to visit him and for the treatment of diseases. He wrote 2 books on that technique. The first books became very famous but unfortunately there were objections on his second book. In 1784 he was pronounced as a fraud by the government. The people started calling him as an oculist. In 1815 he died.
Then his student named Margitss De Puysegur continued his work. In 1784, he discovered how to lead his clients into deep Tran’s state called somnambulism which is known as deep hypnotic Trans state. He discovered 3 features of somnambulism.
1) To concentrate the senses of the body on the operator
2) To accept the suggestions from the therapist
3) Amnesia of events which means loss of memory of the events taking place
Then there came another person James Braid. According to him hypnosis should be limited to medical and dental professions. James Esdate Sigmund also worked on the same thing.
Hypnosis was very popular in the twentieth century and during World War 2, it was used among psychotherapists to treat people suffering from fatigue and stress. To keep the modern therapist in touch with the recent information, there is a code of ethics. The Hypnotism act of 1952 was introduced to protect the public against dangerous practices in hypnotic shows. It is still enforce today and there to protect general public. Hypnotherapists are professional and dedicated masters of their work and it has to be said that any mal practice regarding hypnosis is few and far between.
